Connecting Rod Kit With Pin Cables Motorcycle Components Ball Rod End Cable All
Here are the main components included in a typical connecting rod kit:
Connecting rods - The long bars that connect the piston to the crankshaft. Kits will include replacement rods, usually coming in a set of two (one for each cylinder).
Connecting rod bolts - These are the bolts that attach the small and big end bearings to the connecting rods. Kits provide new bolts to ensure proper clamping force.
Connecting rod bearings - Found at each end of the rod, these round bearings allow smooth rotation between the rod and crankpin (small end) and between the rod and piston pin (big end). Replacement bearings address any wear.
Connecting rod nuts - Thin nuts threaded onto the connecting rod bolts to securely clamp the bearings in place between the bolts at each end.
Piston pins - Stout pins that connect each piston to the connecting rod. A new set is included to prevent damage from old, worn pins.
Locking plates - Thin washers or semi-circular clips that hold the piston pins in place and prevent them from walking out.
Gasket/seal kits - Any gaskets or oil seals disturbed during the connecting rod replacement process will be fitted.
Assembly lube - Thin lubricating grease or assembly lubricant for coating the rod bolts and bearings during installation.
